Position Overview:
The Trade Compliance Manager- UK is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and advancing all aspects of the UK & EU export control and trade compliance program, with a primary focus on UK export regulations and sanctions. This role ensures Entrusts full adherence to applicable UK laws, including ECJU & HMRC—while maintaining a strong understanding of global trade compliance principles. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, actively engaged in daily export compliance operations while applying a strategic, risk-based approach to optimizing processes and minimizing regulatory exposure across international markets. This position reports to the Director, Global Trade Compliance.
Responsibilities:
The following represent the key responsibilities of the role as they exist today. This role may expand to include responsibilities that may be new to the Trade Compliance Manager.
1. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding UK & EU export compliance activities
2. Serve as Entrusts liaison with HMRC and ECJU as needed
3. Manage UK & EU export classification of hardware, software, and technology
4. Continuously review and validate export classifications used by Entrust
5. Oversee the export licensing process, including license requirement determinations, submission preparation, and license monitoring, along with implementation of necessary follow-up controls
6. Support daily export compliance activities, including the review and release of systematic compliance blocks (e.g., export permit holds, SPS screening, KYC requests) in collaboration with Trade Compliance Specialists
7. Lead the implementation of new procedures and internal training programs related to UK & EU export compliance and sanctions, in coordination with the Director, Global Trade Compliance and the U.S. Trade Compliance Manager
8. Lead and support internal and external audits and compliance reviews, including export filing audits, freight forwarder reviews, and partner due diligence assessments
9. Monitor and assess proposed regulatory changes, communicate their impact, and recommend risk mitigation strategies
10. Track changes in UK & EU export control laws and sanctions, ensuring alignment with the global trade compliance team
11. Maintain and implement UK & EU trade compliance policies and procedures in accordance with evolving global requirements, local regulations, and corporate standards
12. Collaborate cross-functionally with global and regional teams to achieve trade compliance objectives
13. Develop trade compliance performance metrics in partnership with the Director, Global Trade Compliance and the U.S. Trade Compliance Manager
14. Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
15. Bachelor’s degrees in related/relevant field
16. 8+ years’ experience in trade compliance
17. Must be able to lawfully work within the jurisdiction where the colleague resides
Preferred Qualifications:
18. Exceptional attention to detail
19. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
20. Proven problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
21. Ability to engage and communicate effectively across all organizational levels
22. Experience drafting and implementing procedures
23. Knowledge of Change Management Principles
24. Ability to interpret and apply evolving regulations
25. Team-oriented with sound judgment and leadership capabilities
26. Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
27. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
28. Experience with Oracle
29. Willingness to travel as needed
30. Global mindset with global experience preferably in Canada, and U.S
