Role: Personal Assistant
Hours: School term time (39 weeks per year): Up to 6 hours per week. Days and times to be agreed and flexible.
School holidays (13 weeks per year): Up to 30 hours per week, flexible to support a mix of activities and family needs. Exact days and times to be agreed.
Location: Chatham
A personal assistant is required to support a friendly and sociable young woman with a rare medical condition that affects her mobility. The client enjoys being out in the community and is looking for a fun, energetic and reliable PA who can support her to stay active, social and independent.
The role will be primarily community-based, supporting her to access activities she enjoys, spend time with friends, and build her confidence and independence, with some elements of personal care and home support included.
The client has a great sense of humour and enjoys animals, art, shopping, musical shows and music (especially Ed Sheeran). She is keen to meet up with friends and would benefit from a PA who is confident, positive and engaging.
Responsibilities
* Building a positive, consistent and trusting relationship.
* Support to access community activities such as shopping, social outings, creative activities and leisure interests.
* Supporting socialising with friends and promoting independence.
* Elements of personal care, including support with showering, dressing and toileting.
* Safe use of equipment, including hoists.
* Supporting safe travel and transfers in and out of vehicles.
* Following agreed care plans, medical guidance and emergency protocols if required.
* Planning and supporting enjoyable, age‑appropriate activities.
* Providing reassurance and support to help the client to feel confident and included.
About You
* Friendly, energetic, patient and reliable.
* Confident supporting a young adult with physical care needs.
* Comfortable working flexibly, including weekends and school holidays.
* Able to follow medical and emergency protocols calmly.
* Experience of hoists and manual handling.
* Manual handling training up to date.
* A driver is required for this role to support community access.
