We are currently looking for a Roadstone Operative to work the day shift at our site in Tunstead Quarry based in Buxton, Derbyshire. The Day Operator underpins Roadstone operations using Mobile Plant to support Road and Rail deliveries, ensuring that material movement activities within the Stone Operational area are executed in line with daily sales demands. As Roadstone Operative you may also be deployed to provide support for Quarry Operations or Cleaning requirements in Stone Processing plants. This role is easily commutable from Buxton, Macclesfield, Stockport, Dronfield, Manchester, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Leek, Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Stone Production Manager the role of Roadstone Operative will be responsible for using Mobile Plant to support Road and Rail deliveries, ensuring that material movement activities within the Stone Operational area are executed in line with daily sales demands.
The role of Roadstone Operative will also be responsible for:
1. Maintaining operational performance in line with KPI targets with safe and accurate loading of customer / haulier HGV’s
2. Operating mobile plant in an economical manner to ensure monthly Fuel efficiency targets are met
3. Adhering to specified loading process of HGV / Rail wagons to achieve relevant quality standards
4. Ensuring product loaded or tipped at stockpiles is in accordance with site standards and rules
5. Responding to internal and external demands for products or other requests that may require an alteration to the blending process
6. Supporting stock replenishment to ensure availability of products in the right place at the right time for customer supply and demand
7. Maintaining good standard of general housekeeping in mobile plant and workplace areas
8. Ownership of plant cleaning throughout the Stone Section
9. Capturing and recording stock movements
10. Liaising with Shift / Production Supervisors and contributing to any investigations into quality complaints
11. Working in accordance with Quality procedures and instructions to prevent customer complaints
12. Reporting Safety defects or Near Hits to Stone Shift Supervisor
13. Working in a safe manner, ensuring the Health and Safety standards adhered to
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Roadstone Operative will have plenty of initiative and experience operating loading shovels and dumpers within a similar industry, a good understanding of Aggregate Product specification and working knowledge of mobile plant. You will also demonstrate the capability to carry out manual cleaning activities in Stone Processing plants.
Suitable candidates for the role of Roadstone Operative will also have:
14. Ability to keep accurate records and work within relevant site rules
15. Good understanding of site specific SHE procedures and safe working practices and the ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and controlling risks accordingly
16. Basic report writing skills and numeracy skills
17. NVQ Level 2 Specialised Plant & Machinery operations (Mobile Plant) - desirable
18. Good verbal communication skills
19. Proven track record of being reliable and punctual
20. Proactive approach to work
21. Ability to work as part of a team
22. Good attention to detail
