Commercial Electrician – Full-Time\nLocation: Derby\nSalary: £38,000 - £43,000\n\nJob Type: Permanent\nWe are recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded electrical contractor that delivers a range of services across domestic, commercial, and public-sector sites. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Electrician to join their team.\n\nAbout the role\nThis position involves a mix of testing, inspection, maintenance, and installation work, with a primary focus on EICRs and PAT testing within public buildings. You may also be asked to support a variety of other projects including refurbishments and electrical upgrades in schools, offices, retail spaces, residential blocks, and light industrial settings.\n\nA company vehicle will be provided, and the successful candidate will be expected to work both independently and as part of a wider team.\n\nKey responsibilities\n\nConduct EICRs, PAT testing, and complete the relevant certification\nInspect, test, and ensure compliance with current wiring regulations (BS 7671)\nCarry out routine maintenance, repairs, and installations across a range of electrical systems\nFault finding and rectification in both planned and reactive settings\nLiaise with clients, contractors, and colleagues in a professional manner\nMaintain clear and accurate records of time worked, materials used, and tasks completed\nFollow health and safety procedures and company policies on all jobs\nRequired qualifications and certifications\n\nNVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Systems or equivalent\n18th Edition (City & Guilds 2382-18) – essential\nInspection & Testing qualification (City & Guilds 2391, 2394, or 2395) – essential\nPAT Testing (City & Guilds 2377) – desirable (or willingness to obtain)\nFull UK driving licence – essential\nECS Gold Card or equivalent competency proof – preferred\nSalary and package\n\n£38,000 – £43,000 per annum\nCompany van (business use only), fuel card, laptop, and phone provided\n30 minutes unpaid travel time each way per job \nOvertime opportunities available\n20 days holiday + bank holidays, with 1 additional day per year of service\nNo call-out rota required\nSkills and experience\n\nGood working knowledge of British Standards, building regulations, and H&S practices\nConfident reading and working from technical diagrams and drawings\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills\nStrong problem-solving ability and attention to detail\nComfortable working alone and managing workload\nOrganised, reliable, and committed to high standards of work\nDesirable experience\n\nInstalling EV chargers or renewable energy systems such as solar PV\nBackground in commercial projects including new builds, maintenance, and upgrades\nFamiliarity with fire alarms, CCTV, and access/security systems\nBenefits\n\nCompetitive pay structure\nCompany van and fuel card\nTools and equipment provided\nPension scheme\nPaid holiday (28 days including bank holidays)\nCasual dress policy\nOngoing training and development opportunities\nSchedule\n\nMonday to Friday\n8-hour shifts
