Pay rate – £42.51 per hour Contract – Temporary Blaenau Gwent Council are currently recruiting an experienced children’s Senior Practitioner for their Statutory Assessment team. There is no pattern, applicant will be expected to be in the office on duty days and back up duty days. This is a rewarding and fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You’ll lead on the delivery of high-quality assessments, with the Statutory Assessment Team focusing on Section 47 enquiries and consent-based Integrated Assessments. Once assessments are completed, cases transfer to other teams—allowing you to focus on early, impactful intervention. You’ll manage a complex caseload while supporting colleagues through mentoring, coaching, and day-to-day supervision. You’ll also step in for the Team Manager when needed, giving you valuable leadership experience in a nurturing and collaborative environment. Your input will help shape decision-making, promote reflective practice, and ensure our interventions are strengths-based, proportionate, and outcome-focused. Children’s Social Workers will need at least 3 years’ permanent experience with an English local authority and to be registered with Social Work England, as per DfE rules.
