BPSS basic clearance is required; prior clearance is not transferable.
Supporting a key client, we seek Principal Electrical Service Engineers for dock readiness projects at a nuclear-licensed site. Responsibilities include managing a small team, overseeing design processes, and reviewing designs to ensure proper, adequate, and efficient implementation across the project.
Responsibilities of a Principal Electrical Engineer
* Preparing and checking designs, analyzing reports, drawings, and specifications.
* Participating in solving technical issues, deficiencies, and developing new design ideas.
* Using Earned Value Management methodologies and respecting task durations.
* Supervising and guiding junior staff on the job.
* Maintaining development records to demonstrate skills achieved.
* Communicating system capabilities to ensure high standards in operation concepts.
* Supporting development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities, ensuring compliance with design intent, local, and national regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* Degree or HND in an engineering discipline.
* Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent knowledge.
* Understanding of Health and Safety procedures.
* Proven knowledge in complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
* Ability to advise sub-contracted design teams.
* Project specification, planning, management, and budgeting experience.
* Proficiency with engineering office and computer applications.
Desirable:
* Chartered engineer or working towards chartership.
* Experience in designing electrical building services, fire detection and alarm systems, industrial and emergency lighting, HVAC.
* Strong understanding of engineering design and safety practices.
