Interim Head of Category – Housing, FM, Environmental & Regeneration Location: West Midlands (Hybrid – minimum 2 days/week on-site)
Day Rate: Approx. £550/day (inside IR35)

One of my Midlands-based public sector clients is seeking two experienced Heads of Category to lead procurement activity across a diverse portfolio including Housing, Hard & Soft Facilities Management, Environmental Services, and Regeneration. These roles are critical to supporting my clients’ transformation agenda and ensuring continuity of delivery across high-impact service areas.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead strategic procurement across multiple categories, ensuringpliance with PA23.
2. Provide expert guidance and leadership to category teams (up to 4 people), driving performance and consistency.
3. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to deliver trusted, high-quality procurement support.
4. Navigate change and transformation, ensuringernance and planning processes are robust and effective.
5. Develop category strategies aligned with Council priorities and regulatory frameworks.
Skills & Experience Required:
6. Proven experience in one or more of the following categories: Housing, Hard/Soft FM, Environmental Services and Regeneration
7. Strong understanding of public sector procurement regulations, including PCR 2015, PA23 pletion of 10-module training essential), and PSR where applicable.
8. Excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
9. Ability to manage change and transformation effectively within aplexernance structure.
