CHEF REQUIRED
£14.94 (Weekday Shifts) - £15.44 (Weekend shifts). Shifts: 7am - 3pm. Location: Guildford, Surrey.
An army marches on its stomach, so they say, and nutrition plays a crucial part in staying healthy and maintaining wellbeing for care residents. We’re looking for an experienced chef who loves good food and is trained to NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent, with at least an intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
Responsibilities
* Cook for residents with specialist dietary requirements, ensuring all needs are factored in.
* Plan menus that offer variety, with consideration for seasonal changes and the care centre client base.
* Exercise budget control and stock management to sustain high standards of service in line with health and safety regulations.
* Work within health, hygiene, safety, and safe handling guidelines; promote good practice in the kitchen.
* Collaborate with colleagues and management to maintain professional relationships and ensure high-quality catering support.
* Apply knowledge of English and continental cooking to create appealing, quality dishes.
* Follow instructions with attention to detail and identify/manage risks in the working environment.
Qualifications
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent catering certificate
* Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
* Experience in cost control and devising menus appropriate for a care centre client base
* Ability to foster professional relationships with colleagues and service users
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, manual handling, infection control and good hygiene
* Understanding of safeguarding people at risk
* Proven working knowledge of English and continental cooking
* Flair and enthusiasm for cooking with fresh quality ingredients
* Good management and interpersonal skills with kitchen staff and management
* Ability to listen, follow and understand instructions; attention to detail
* Ability to identify risks in the working environment and know how to minimise/manage risk
* Confident in the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
