The Procurement Category Manager will oversee procurement activities within the Transport & Distribution industry, ensuring compliance and achieving value for money. This role is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and requires expertise in managing categories and procurement regulations.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement category strategies to deliver cost savings and efficiencies.
* Manage procurement processes in compliance with PCR2015 and PA23 regulations.
* Identify and mitigate risks in procurement activities across categories.
* Work closely with stakeholders to align procurement goals with business objectives.
* Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
* Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships effectively.
* Ensure adherence to organisational policies and industry standards in all procurement activities.
* Provide guidance and support to junior team members as needed.
Qualifications
* Professional qualifications such as MCIPS or equivalent experience.
* Thorough knowledge of PCR2015 and PA23 regulations.
* Proven experience in category management within the Transport & Distribution sector.
* Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
Two Procurement Category Managers are required on a permanent basis. The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering strategic procurement change as part of the organisation's transformation programme. They will lead on agile, pragmatic and proportional procurement across a broad range of goods and services, ensuring value for money, innovation, sustainability, and compliance with best practice. The role will support the delivery of the new Target Operating Model and progression of the Procurement Maturity Model.
