Position Scope
Processing raw ingredients to produce value-added products for the Plaistow packing lines and bulk customers, including LGS and flavored blends, on a shift basis.
Position Strategic Objectives and Key Deliverables
* Manage 12 packaging lines with varied SKUs and complex syrup processing equipment.
* Throughput of approximately 20,000 tonnes of high-value sugar products annually.
* Produce 30 million units of syrup products per year.
* Manufacture 2,000 tonnes of small packet dry sugar and sweetener products annually.
* Meet or exceed energy and water efficiency indices with zero sugar losses to sewer.
Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
* Operate the plant in compliance with SHEQ standards, understanding chemical hazards and environmental risks.
* Achieve processing volumes while maintaining specifications (brix, color, pH, ash, hardness); control critical process points and inputs.
* Conduct testing, maintain records for traceability, and monitor water quality for utilities.
* Provide flexible support for the Process Shift Supervisor.
* Prepare flavored syrup/blend recipes according to specifications.
* Load bulk and return tankers, blend ingredients, and ensure hygiene standards.
* Control syrup product release, ensuring specifications are met, and maintain operational data for standards and audits.
* Maintain knowledge of syrup packing lines and utilities for hygiene, routing, testing, and troubleshooting.
* Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders.
* Demonstrate good prioritization, analytical, and teamwork skills. Supervisory experience is beneficial.
* Communicate effectively at all levels.
* Be self-motivated and responsible for decisions impacting production, labor, and costs.
* Possess good computer skills, especially MS Word and Excel.
* Maintain high numeracy and literacy levels.
* Provide holiday/sick cover for the Shift Supervisor as needed.
Essential Work Experiences
* Detailed knowledge of complex process operations.
Desired Work Experiences
* Proficiency in SAP modules: Inventory, C of A, Production.
* Proficiency in Truck Scale systems: weight variance, picking, assigning.
* Experience with Continuous Improvement processes.
Essential Education Requirements
* GCSE ‘A’ level standard, preferably in Chemistry or another science.
* Experience in FMCG or Food Manufacturing organizations.
Desired Education Requirements
* HND qualification.
