Taylor & Francis have an opportunity to join their Research & Analytics Department as maternity cover for Data Assistant. This role supports the provision of data and reports and information to inform the strategic decision making and evidence-based practice of Taylor & Francis books and journals staff globally. As part of a central team, the Data Assistant would have the opportunity to work on reporting that is key to many departments across the business, while learning new skills including data tools such as Excel, Power BI and SQL. The role will also support users from across the business with queries relating to the work of the team and actively communicating updates on behalf of the team.
The role will involve a wide range of tasks supporting reporting areas across the team. This role involves working with a variety of data, which could include electronic usage, publication data, orders, citations and Impact Factors. The role will be specialised within one of the team’s three sub-areas (Open Access, Bibliometrics, or Customer, Sales & Audience Insights) but may also be required to assist with projects or other areas of support across the wider team.

When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces – like at conference – you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely.
Location: We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance of our Milton Park office to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to this office location to collaborate as required. There is an expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in-person time.
Please note: Our Milton Park office will be relocating to Oxford city centre in late 2027 / early 2028, offering an exciting new workplace in the heart of the city.

What you’ll be doing?
* Co-managing the team inbox alongside two other Data Assistants, answering queries or directing them to the most relevant team member.
* Developing a good working knowledge of the specialist area in order to answer business queries and develop the required context to deliver on data and reporting requests.
* Fulfilling data and report requests based on internal/external sources.
* Updating & maintaining our reports & dashboards.
* Building new reports or enhancing current reports in Power BI.
* Applying continuous improvements to ongoing processes & dashboards, through tools such as Power Automate.
* Testing new data sets/reports and investigating bugs in data quality and reporting tools.
* Maintaining/developing departmental discoverability & training resources.
* Editing SOPs and FAQs.
* Setting up user accounts for reporting systems.
* Organising meetings and compiling agendas within the team and externally.
* Supporting and assisting Data Analysts in the team with their work as needed.
Qualifications

* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Excellent attention to detail
* Proven ability to follow instructions & set processes
* Experience working with data in Excel. Experience working with Power BI and SQL would be an advantage, but training will be provided.
* An enthusiasm for and ability to learn quickly, particularly domain knowledge
* Computer literate and able to pick up new software skills quickly
* Team player with a flexible, positive approach to supporting others
* Good written and oral communication skills
* A high level of numeracy
* Adaptable and willing to take on new and different responsibilities as they arise
