Your development and apprenticeship

How the apprenticeship works: Over 24 months, you’ll devote a minimum of 6 hours per week on ‘off the job’ training, including theory (online learning) and practical training (shadowing, mentoring, assignments). You will work towards a Level 3 Process Industry Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship, with training from a Tiro tutor and an experienced mentor at Wessex Resins who will support your development.

You’ll be trained hands-on in a manufacturing environment, gaining knowledge and skills relevant to process manufacturing, warehouse operations, and technical problem-solving. The programme also offers potential progression toward roles in process optimisation, quality control, maintenance, supervision, or leadership, and the possibility of becoming a registered Science or Engineering Technician (RSci/Eng Tech).

A key benefit is earning a salary while gaining qualifications, avoiding large student debt.

Eligibility and qualifications

Minimum requirements are set by UK Government and the training provider to ensure the programme delivers significant new knowledge and skills. If you already hold a Level 3 qualification, degree, or substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding as these programmes are designed for upskilling or reskilling.

Requirements include:

* Be over 18 due to machinery at the location
* Not in full-time education
* Have lived in the UK for 3 years and have the right to work in the UK

If you do not meet these minimum requirements, register your interest and we’ll discuss options further.

Experience and attributes

We value attitude, curiosity, and commitment. Prior manufacturing experience is helpful but not essential. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who are enthusiastic, proactive, and ready to learn. You should be reliable, punctual, able to follow clear processes, and maintain clear communication with your team. Health and safety awareness, numerical ability for simple calculations, and an organized workspace are important.

You will be encouraged to learn, take feedback, and contribute to the efficiency and quality of warehouse and manufacturing operations.

Qualification notes

Enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key; school results are not the sole measure of suitability. The apprenticeship lasts 24 months with a minimum of 6 hours per week of off-the-job training.

About the apprenticeship delivery

You will be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro and an experienced Wessex Resins mentor who will help you develop knowledge, skills, and work habits for a successful manufacturing career.

As an apprentice, you will earn a salary while training, with practical, hands-on experience that complements or replaces traditional university study.
