Job summary
The post is for a part-time, permanent Orthotics Officer/Podiatry Assistant.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day running of the Podiatry and Surgical Appliance office, meeting administrative tasks, and delivering a quality service.
The role will include:
* Providing assistance to a supervising Podiatrist/Orthotist in delivering podiatric treatment and admin support where necessary.
* Assisting the podiatrist in foot care and health promotion activities.
* Receiving and initially dealing with telephone and written enquiries and complaints.
* Handling urgent matters appropriately, following Department procedures to record and follow-up as necessary.
* Providing admin support for the Orthotics service, including using Oracle to procure and track Surgical appliance orders.
Main duties of the job
Your role will also include:
* Supporting the administrative needs of the Podiatry and Orthotics Service, including using the Oracle procurement system and managing orthotic invoices.
* Providing basic foot care to patients under the direction of Podiatrists and supporting the delivery of Podiatry services.
* Booking and rearranging appointments for the Surgical Appliance/Orthotic department and the Podiatry service.
* Arranging patient appointments, including hospital transport if applicable.
* Ensuring all clinics are at full capacity.
* Processing all new applications appropriately.
* Managing changes to the clinical programme due to staff sickness or absence.
* Notifying patients of cancelled clinics and rescheduling as soon as possible.
