A London landmark since 1865, Hotel Café Royal is a luxury 5-star hotel in the heart of the West End, blending timeless elegance with contemporary style. Known for its exceptional dining and impeccable service, the hotel offers a refined breakfast service in The Gallery an elegant and serene setting where guests enjoy an la carte menu of classic and creative morning dishes, served daily from 7:00 am to 11:00 am.
The Role
As Breakfast Chef, you will take pride in preparing and presenting our la carte breakfast menu to the highest standards. You will work independently during early hours, ensuring all dishes are executed with precision, consistency, and flair. This role is ideal for a chef who thrives in the morning service environment, has excellent organisational skills, and a passion for delivering fresh, high-quality dishes that start our guests day perfectly.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present all breakfast menu items to the highest quality and consistency.
Work from early hours (4:00 am start) to ensure mise en place is complete and service is ready for 7:00 am opening.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen at all times.
Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and ensure all produce is fresh and within date.
Collaborate with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team to develop and improve breakfast offerings.
Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
Work efficiently during service to manage orders in a timely manner while maintaining presentation standards.
Assist with occasional private breakfast or early morning event requests.
Support kitchen operations beyond breakfast service when required.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Breakfast Chef, Chef de Partie, or similar role in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant.
Ability to work early morning shifts (4:00 am 2:00 pm) with reliability and punctuality.
Strong culinary skills and attention to detail, particularly in la carte service.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations (Food Safety Level 2 or higher desirable).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude, adaptability, and a passion for exceeding guest expectations.
