We are working with a number of primary schools in Newcastle who are looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs.
You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech and language needs)
Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
Adapt classroom materials and activities to meet individual needs
Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, professionals, and parents/carers where appropriate
Requirements
An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred)
Understanding of a range of additional needs and support strategies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and resilience
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
