Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer of A-Level Politics and GCSE Citizenship to join Central Saint Michael's Sixth Form on a fixed-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator or an ambitious new entrant to the profession who is passionate about delivering outstanding teaching within the further education sector. You will play a key role in delivering engaging and high-quality Politics and Citizenship provision, supporting learners to develop the critical thinking, analytical and communication skills required for progression into higher education and a wide range of professional careers.
Working closely with the Head of Section and wider curriculum team, you will contribute to the continued development of the provision, ensuring learners receive a rewarding educational experience that supports achievement, progression and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across AS and A-Level Politics and GCSE Citizenship programmes.
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with curriculum specifications and awarding body requirements.
* Undertake course leadership and course tutor responsibilities, including personal tutoring where required.
* Participate in curriculum planning, development and quality improvement activities.
* Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning.
* Support the development and expansion of the Politics and Citizenship provision.
* Assist in the recruitment, induction and ongoing support of learners through participation in open events, parents’ evenings and student interviews.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* A degree and/or relevant professional qualification in Politics or a closely related subject.
* A teaching qualification such as a Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
* Experience delivering high-quality teaching and learning within a further education or sixth form environment.
* Experience delivering A-Level Politics and/or GCSE Citizenship qualifications.
* Experience preparing and evaluating engaging learning materials and assessment resources.
* Knowledge of key skills and functional skills within teaching practice.
* Experience of internal verification and moderation processes would be advantageous.
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
* DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* Certificate in Education
* PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
* ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
* DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
* DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
* PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
* CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
