As an Engineering Delivery Project Manager, you’ll drive the successful delivery of a wide and varied range of projects including those stemming from our maintenance, strategy and master planning processes.
What you’ll be doing as an Engineering Project Manager
• Act as an Engineering Delivery Project Manager responsible for a series of projects. The role will be delivering projects ranging in complexity up to £5m in value.
• Working as part of a small engineering team, acting as the Project lead from conception to handover. Developing robust and safe concepts and/or solutions is a key requirement for this position and project delivery procedures.
• Lead in planning and delivering design-and-build activities, including overseeing the commissioning.
• Develop and produce tender packages according to strict protocol.
• Accountable for developing the projects and documentation for submission through the Governance process to achieve the correct funding to deliver the project as required by the organisation.
• Work with the team to achieve the time and cost targets.
• Work with and indirectly manage a wider team of multi-function maintenance personnel, and key suppliers.
• Competent in risk management, including risk identification, mitigation, and control. A key requirement for this position is the ability to de-risk and add value during the outline design stage.
• Provide Project Assurance during the delivery, commissioning and handover of assets.
• Capable of working on several projects and managing the works awarded to Internal stakeholders, framework suppliers/contractors and external consultants.
What you should bring to the role
• Degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in civil, mechanical or marine engineering projects
• Experience and knowledge of end-to-end project delivery process.
• Knowledge in technical, commissioning and construction assurance.
• Experience and knowledge in developing tender packages according to strict protocol. • A current UK Driving Licence
Essential Criteria Qualifications
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership with a recognised professional body (e.g. ICE, IStructE, IMechE). Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing engineering projects, ideally in a marine, port, or energy infrastructure setting.
• Proven track record of delivering capital works and infrastructure projects safely, on time, and within budget.
• Experience working with contractors, consultants, and statutory bodies (e.g. Marine Scotland, local authorities).
Skills and Knowledge
• Strong understanding of civil or marine engineering design and construction practices. • Proficient in project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, APM), including planning, risk, and financial control.
Familiarity with CDM regulations, procurement processes, and contract administration (e.g. NEC or JCT contracts).
• Competent in using project planning tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera) and engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Role Location: This role will be based within PPA offices in Peterhead and you must be located within a commutable distance of the offices to be considered
