We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our multidisciplinary treatment room team. You will work under the supervision of the nursing team and GP partners to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.
The post-holder will support the delivery of nursing services within the practice, undertaking clinical and administrative tasks in line with competency, training, and agreed protocols. You will work both independently and collaboratively, supporting GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver safe and effective care to our local population.
The role is for 21 hours per week with a fixed working pattern: Monday 10am - 7pm, Tuesday 9am - 3pm, Wednesday 12pm - 6pm.

Main Duties
* Undertake basic clinical observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation)
* Perform venepuncture and collect specimens (urine, swabs, etc.)
* Carry out ECGs
* Ear syringing
* Undertake wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures/clips
* Administer flu and other vaccinations (if trained and competency assessed)
* Assist in chronic disease monitoring (e.g., asthma, COPD, diabetes reviews)
* Support health promotion and lifestyle advice (diet, smoking cessation, weight management)
* Conduct NHS Health Checks
* Assist with minor surgery and coil/implant clinics
* Ensure infection prevention and control standards are maintained at all times
* Accurately record patient data in clinical system (EMIS Web)
* Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment
* Ensure adequate stock levels of clinical supplies
* Process and record vaccinations and other interventions
* Participate in recall systems for patients with long-term conditions
* Assist in maintaining practice infection control audits and health & safety checks

Person Specification
Essential
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent experience)
* Competent in venepuncture
* Training to take clinical observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation)
* Trained to collect and process urine samples
* Previous experience working in a health care setting
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Good IT literacy and accurate record-keeping skills
* Commitment to personal and professional development
Desirable
* Training in vaccinations and immunisations
* Trained in ECG's
* Trained in ear-syringing
* Trained in wound care, dressings and suture/clip removal
* Trained in NHS Health Checks
* Experience of working in Primary Care
