Full time salary: £30,496 - £32,743

Hours: 35 hours per week | Monday - Friday

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised, detail‑oriented and customer‑focused individual with excellent communication skills to join our team as our Development Assistant (Membership).
This is a database and supporter care position, ideally suited to someone who enjoys both working with data, systems and processes, taking pride in accuracy, consistency and excellent record‑keeping; and providing a high standard of customer service.
Alongside this, your friendly, professional customer service covering our Membership inbox and phone line will help to maintain National Museums Scotland’s high Membership retention rates and positive supporter experience.

About the Development Assistant (Membership) role
Our Development Assistant (Membership) plays a key role in assisting the Development team in building and maintaining relationships with Members, appeal donors and a variety of supporters, by providing the highest level of customer service and supporter care, processing Membership payments and donations, delivering Member communications, and supporting continued improvements to the fundraising database and associated online systems.
Key responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to our individual giving programmes (primarily the Membership Programme) including processing new joiners and renewals, recording and acknowledging gifts, gathering and recording Gift Aid declarations.
* Manage our Membership phone line and inbox, respond to Member, donor and public enquiries in a warm, timely, tactful and professional manner.
* Day‑to‑day administration of the Membership programme: processing new members, renewals, recording and acknowledging gifts, keeping accurate records on our CRM database (Tessitura).
* Support the wider team with office administration and occasional event support.
* Ensure timely and accurate supporter communications and acknowledgements via phone, email and post.
* Maintain high standards of data quality to support the wider team with reporting, retention and stewardship.
Skills and experience
* Excellent written, verbal, telephone and web communication skills.
* Strong administrative support skills, accurate record‑management and ability to prioritise tasks within a fast‑paced environment.
* Relevant experience in a marketing, charity, fundraising or similar environment.
* Experience and confidence in using a Customer Relationship Management system.
