Offer description

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality phlebotomy services to patients, working alongside our nurses, healthcare assistants, and GPs to support effective clinical care.


Main duties of the job

Undertaking venepuncture for patients in accordance with clinical protocols.

Ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen labelling, and documentation.

Preparing and dispatching samples to laboratories following infection control and data protection policies.

Maintaining equipment and stock levels in the treatment area.

Providing a reassuring and professional service to patients at all times.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

Undertaking venepuncture for patients in accordance with clinical protocols and safety guidelines.

Working efficiently to booked appointment times, ensuring clinics run smoothly and patients are seen promptly.

Ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen labelling, and documentation.

Preparing and dispatching samples to laboratories following infection control and data protection policies.

Maintaining equipment and stock levels in the treatment area.

Providing a reassuring, professional, and caring service to patients at all times


Person Specification


Experience

* Experienced in phlebotomy including taking blood samples from patients who are more difficult to bleed.
* Experience of working in GP practice


Qualifications

* Qualified and experienced in phlebotomy
* Punctual, well-organised, and able to manage time effectively to maintain smooth patient flow
* Knowledgeable in infection prevention, health and safety, and confidentiality standards
* Ability to take blood samples from older children (aged 14+)
* Previous experience in a GP surgery or NHS environment is desirable but not essential.
