A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Gloucester is seeking an Associate Director (Civil Engineering) to lead the technical and commercial delivery of a portfolio of infrastructure and development projects across the South West, South Wales, and the wider UK. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer looking to combine hands‑on technical expertise with team leadership, client engagement, and strategic input.

The Role
* Leading the technical delivery of civil engineering projects across highways, drainage, and infrastructure
* Ensuring design quality, compliance, and technical excellence across all stages
* Overseeing project financial performance, fees, and resource planning
* Acting as a senior point of contact for clients and key stakeholders
* Managing, mentoring, and developing engineers and technicians
* Reviewing and approving calculations, reports, and technical submissions
* Contributing to business growth, work‑winning, and long‑term strategy
* Remaining technically active while playing a key role in leadership, quality management, and consultancy performance
About You
* 8+ years’ post‑graduate experience within a UK civil engineering consultancy
* Degree qualified (BEng / MEng) in Civil Engineering
* Chartered (ICE) or operating at Chartered‑equivalent level
* Strong background in highways, drainage, and civil infrastructure design
* Experienced in adoption processes including Section 38, Section 278, Section 104, and Section 106
* Proficient or knowledgeable in Civil 3D, MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage, and AutoCAD
* Confident leading teams and managing complex projects
* Strong commercial awareness and client‑facing capability
* Full UK driving licence
* Experience in client management, business development, or mentoring is highly advantageous
