Job Title: Large Engine Assembly Operator
Salary: £15.07 per hour
Location: Shrewsbury

About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests, and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Sustainability is a key focus, and IPSD is actively developing green energy solutions for the future.
Job Opportunity:
As a CV Large Engine Assembly Operator, you may work on remanufactured products for British customers. You will learn all sub-assembly and complete build processes for CV12 & CV8 engines, using remanufactured components and new parts to complete engine builds from bare blocks. There will be opportunities to expand your experience and knowledge of other large engine and powerpack product lines through in-house and formal training.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
* Inspect and verify parts and components
* Use gauges and measuring equipment
* Safely apply heat and freezing techniques during assembly
* Prepare sub-assemblies for main build
* Perform complete CV main build after training
* Conduct IPV and quality gates within the transmission build process
* Diagnose problems and implement corrective actions
* Support hot testing to rectify issues within the test cell when required
Skills and Experience:
Candidates should have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
* Experience in assembly or mechanical work following complex instructions to high standards
* Experience using hand tools and measuring equipment such as DTIs, Micrometers, and Thread Gauges
* Ability to work well within a team
* Self-discipline to follow health & safety and quality instructions
* Knowledge of assembly and fitting on CV diesel engines (desirable)
Additional preferred skills include:
* Knowledge of Caterpillar Production Systems
* Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications
