The post operates across various settings and collaborates with multiple disciplines and teams, including Warwickshire Preschool Autism Service (WPAS), the Neurodevelopmental School Age Service in Warwickshire, Integrated Disability Service (IDS), educational settings, Social Services, and children's homes.
The postholder independently manages a caseload of children with highly complex autism needs. The role involves acting as a consultant and specialist adviser, providing advice, guidance, and recommendations to other SLT colleagues and multidisciplinary team (MDT) members such as Clinical Psychologists and Consultant Paediatricians.
Main duties include:
1. Taking management responsibility for the team of therapists in this specialist area.
2. Supervising other SLTs working in the field of Paediatric Autism.
3. Providing support and training related to the specialism and developing the service in line with new funding, research, technology, RCSLT, and Government guidelines.
4. Delivering specialist training to parents, carers, professionals, and colleagues to enhance their skills and knowledge.
5. Advising the Professional Head of Department on legislation, policy, and protocols within the specialist field and contributing to the development of a Paediatric Autism strategy within the SLT Department.
