The Role
The IT Technician is a key member of the IT Department, responsible for supporting the smooth operation of IT systems across this 11-18 school. The postholder will provide advice and support to all members of the school community, maintain equipment, and offer general day-to-day support for the school's IT infrastructure. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to the school's values and virtues are essential to effectively deliver the school's vision.
Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
* Supporting staff with logging Helpdesk issues and monitoring the Helpdesk System.
* Responding to logged helpdesk tickets, prioritising incidents and requests, resolving issues independently or seeking support for complex requests, and keeping staff updated.
* Assisting in creating, maintaining, and deploying Windows images and updates across the IT infrastructure.
* Supporting the installation and maintenance of IT hardware and software, ensuring licence compliance.
* Ensuring mobile devices are encrypted, up to date with system patches, and protected with anti-virus software.
* Monitoring daily backup routines on network servers to ensure successful backups.
* Monitoring internet filtering systems and classroom monitoring software to ensure ICT safeguarding practices.
* Registering student and visitor devices on the BYOD network and assisting with CCTV requests.
* Managing user accounts on network and cloud services, providing first-line support for cashless catering, and liaising with support companies as needed.
* Maintaining network switches and Wi-Fi infrastructure, supporting Office 365 Administration and Active Directory Management.
* Supporting the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of anti-virus software and ensuring the online asset register is current.
* Assisting with network cabling, biometric registration, and supporting ICT projects as required.
* Sourcing quotations for IT equipment and services, updating IT user guides, and managing protocols for ICT equipment booking and release.
* Setting up IT and media for examinations and other events.
