This role will work across multiple teams in Health and Social Care to support them in finding innovative solutions for people with complex needs.

Main duties of the job

Lead on the use of OT methods, functional assessments andevidencebasedinterventions that promote independence

Work across organisations to deliver seamless, joinedup support for individualswith complex needs

Use your extensive knowledge of community equipment,prescribing equipment that supports people to live fulfilling lives at home

Use your understanding of legislation around provision ofequipment andadaptations to ensure the overall most appropriate, cost-effectivesolutions

Offer clinical leadership

Contribute to service development, development of innovativepractices, quality improvement and crosssector collaboration

Job responsibilities

The SeniorOccupational Therapist within the Social Care Occupational Therapy Service willhave professional responsibility for the support and supervision of qualifiedand unqualified team members, commensurate with their grade. They will also have responsibility forassessment of people with a disability and provision of the appropriaterecommendations in order to assist in the Departments statutory obligationsunder current legislation. This mayinclude advice, provision of equipment, adaptations to the home and/or referralto other agencies. The SeniorOccupational Therapist will be responsible for the management of their owncaseload, and supporting team members in the management of their caseloads.

Qualifications

• State Registration in Occupational Therapy

Experience

• Experience of Social Services or relevant Health Authority
• Post qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist within a Social Services Department. Also to have shown full competence over the full range of occupational therapist duties and responsibilities.
