The Wilts and Berks Canal Trust currently has a Comms team of 10 people and is rapidly expanding its social media presence and community interaction. This is an important role in supporting the Trust's advocacy, outreach and engagement.
What difference will you make?
Your input to our brand and marketing materials will shape how we present ourselves to our service users, stakeholders, funders and general public. With your help we will ensure our website and other resources truly reflect our charity's vision and impact. You will help shape and strengthen the Trust's public voice; work closely with a committed Senior Leadership Team; support meaningful advocacy and community engagement and gain valuable senior-level communications experience.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who
* Has strong written communication and editorial skills
* Is confident working across digital platforms and social media
* Can coordinate multiple contributors and deadlines
* Understands strategic messaging and reputation management
* Is organised, proactive and collaborative
* Is comfortable working remotely while remaining engaged with the wider team
Experience in communications, journalism, marketing, media relations or advocacy would be highly beneficial, but passion and commitment are equally important.
What will you be doing?
You will work with the Communications team to gather stories, campaigns, updates and strategic messaging (including 5-year and 2050 vision updates); oversee the collection articles for our Dragonfly magazine; support our 'On The Button' manager compiling and coordinating content for our OTB e-magazine; support our Branches and departments in updating their allocated section on our website; respond to incoming press and broadcase media enquiries, drafting press releases when required and work closely with the Advocacy Team and Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting role for someone who understands the importance of strategic messaging and reputation management.
