Domestic Abuse Advocate

Location: Walsall

Salary: 24,784.50 - 26,872.22

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm - fully onsite

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and highly motivated Domestic Abuse Advocate to join our Community Domestic Abuse Support Service in Walsall. This frontline role involves providing high-quality support, advocacy and practical assistance to women experiencing domestic abuse who are assessed as standard to medium risk. You will manage a caseload and work closely with partner agencies to ensure victims receive effective, trauma-informed and person-centred support. The successful candidate will empower women to increase their safety, understand the dynamics of abuse, access relevant services and regain control of their lives. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with strong interpersonal skills, safeguarding knowledge and experience supporting vulnerable adults and children.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide one-to-one emotional and practical support to women experiencing domestic abuse
* Complete risk and needs assessments and develop tailored support plans
* Support women through safety planning and crisis intervention
* Advocate on behalf of clients with external agencies and professionals
* Attend multi-agency meetings, safeguarding meetings and court where required
* Maintain accurate and confidential case records
* Facilitate support groups and awareness sessionsWork collaboratively with safeguarding partners and community services
* Support women to access housing, legal, health and wellbeing services


About You

You will ideally have:

* Experience supporting victims/survivors of domestic abuse
* Experience working with vulnerable adults and children
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and risk assessment
* Excellent communication and advocacy skills
* The ability to manage a varied caseload effectively
* A trauma-informed and non-judgemental approach
* Strong partnership working skills


Essential Requirements

* Full UK driving licence
* Access to your own vehicle for work purposes
* Enhanced DBS check
* Eligibility to work in the UK


Important Information

Due to the nature of this role, this post is open to female applicants only under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010. The role may occasionally require evening or weekend work to meet service needs. Please note this role is office and community based and is not suitable for hybrid working.
