Main Responsibilities
* People Management – coach, develop and support team members
* Provide legal and regulatory advice on compliance issues, particularly relating to the SRA Standards & Regulations, GDPR and other relevant frameworks.
* Keep up to date with regulatory changes and best practice.
* Liaise with other business stakeholders on statutory or regulatory changes to their business areas and, where necessary, assist in change implementation.
* Assist in drafting policies, procedures and documents to ensure the business is compliant with statutory and regulatory obligations.
* Assist the legal teams in proactively managing wider business risks.
* Review and report on any statutory or regulatory considerations in planned business changes.
* Assist with the implementation of any matters raised by the Internal Risk Committee or the Board.
* Report to the Internal Risk Committee (monthly) in respect of business risks and compliance‑based issues.
* Manage risk relationship with our professional indemnity insurers, and deal with any formal negligence claims.
* Deliver general compliance KPIs and project specific KPI.
Essential Skills And Experience
* Qualified and experienced Solicitor / CILEX Lawyer.
* Experience of successfully working in a legal compliance team.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members and to manage the sensitivities of challenging legal practice appropriately.
* Good understanding of and the ability to deliver excellent customer service.
* Good understanding of how to balance compliance with business drivers.
* Experience of coaching and supporting team members.
* Ability to role‑model good practice leadership.
* Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services.
* Strong analytical skills.
Desirable Skills And Experience
* Experience of working in a legal compliance team.
