Transport Manager

MacGregor Black is partnering with a Distribution Business on the search for a Transport Manager. This is a perm role based in Swindon.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage daily delivery operations including route planning, driver supervision, and vehicle scheduling.
* Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately, on time, and in line with customer expectations.
* Lead, motivate and develop a team of delivery drivers and support staff to maintain high performance and morale.
* Monitor and report on key delivery KPIs including OTIF (On Time in Full), customer satisfaction, and fuel efficiency.
* Ensure all vehicles are maintained, inspected and compliant with relevant legislation and company policies (including DVSA standards).
* Work closely with the warehouse and stock control teams to ensure accurate and efficient dispatch of orders.
* Manage driver rotas, holidays and absence to ensure continuous delivery coverage.
* Investigate delivery discrepancies, delays or customer complaints, and implement effective resolutions.
* Support health and safety initiatives and maintain a strong safety culture within the delivery operation.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transport regulations and always ensure full compliance.
What are we looking for?
* Proven experience in delivery/logistics/transport management, ideally within an FMCG distribution environment.
* Strong understanding of UK road transport legislation and compliance.
* Excellent leadership and team management skills.
* Competent in using routing/transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
* Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to process improvement.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
* CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) desirable but not essential.
Salary - £35-40k + benefits.
