Senior Financial Controller
Our client is a leading Investment Management advisory company are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Controller to come on board into this broad and expansive role that reports directly into the CEO,
Role Responsibilities
To manage the day-to-day activities of our mid-tier holding and financing companies for company investments and to perform oversight for foreign companies managed by third party service providers.
You will lead a team of professionals that currently exists of 1 controller and 1 corporate secretarial staff member. In addition to this you will work closely with the office manager and also 2 asset managers employed to work on the Infrastructure deals. Role definition:
Day to day management of the controller and corporate secretary to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and to the highest possible standard;
Regular feedback and coaching of the controller and corporate secretary to develop their knowledge and skills to take them to the next level;
Ensure proper corporate governance is adhered to including the review of legal documents and the coordination and organization of board meetings;
Build relationships with various stakeholders (BU/Tax/Legal/Asset Managers/Joint Venture Partners) and look for active collaboration;
Full fill the role of board member on U.K.-entities so previous experience of holding Board positions would be preferable;
Oversee the management of board meetings for regular quarterly updates, distributions and possible exits;
Work with deal teams and other stakeholders on investment transactions such as acquisitions, purchase, exits, refinance operations and restructurings;
Responsible for and actively involved in monitoring investment and financing cashflows and cashflow forecasts;
Review of accounting, reporting packages, tax reporting, budgets for all UK companies and be responsible for audits and consolidations if required;
Preparation of ad hoc financial reporting as required by the companies;
Experience in working with colleagues in other locations which form part of the fund structures;
Ultimately responsible for the compliance with law, regulations and various regulatory bodies (including tax, accounting and companies house filing);
The candidate:
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject;
Qualified accountant either ACCA or ICAEW; • Practical application of FRS102 with the ability to provide onsite training/ advice to the UK controller;
Experience of dealing with Auditors and producing Audited Financial Statements in line with the relevant accounting standards;
An understanding of the Companies Act 2006 to ensure that all companies comply with the legislation and to provide training and support where necessary to the UK Corporate Secretary;
At least 8 years working experience within funds in an International working environment;
Ability and confidence to break down complex tasks into its component parts with the ability to work under pressure and to prioritise workloads;
A rudimentary understanding of legal, financial and commercial matters is required along with corporate governance and general matters pertaining to the funds industry;
Highly independent style of working; Knowledge of general aspects of corporate administration;
Is highly organized, good communication skills and the ability to take ownership and responsibility; Analytical skills to overview the bigger picture;
Is fluent in English verbally and in writing, any other language will be an asset;
Affinity with legal documents is considered as an asset;
Demonstrating readiness to undertake any task pertinent to the role, regardless of its perceived simplicity
