Overview
The Senior Textile Designer will be responsible for designing appropriately for our customer base, providingyarn dyedpattern forallproductareasforboth Womenswear and Childrenswear.
The role explores innovative sources of inspiration and carries out research on seasonal colours and pattern trends that are right for Boden.The Senior Textile Designer will produce pattern boards that compliment and reinforce the seasonal stories created by the design team. These should follow the design brief laid down by the Design Director at the beginning of eachseason, andthese need to be presented to the Founder and SLT.
It is important that they sympathetically translate the seasonal palette onto CADand directly work with all mills to develop the fabricalong sidethe Fabric team.
Location:3-4 days per week at our North Acton office, the rest WFH.
This role is for a 12 Month Maternity Cover, candidates applying must be comfortable with this.
What You Will Do
1. Workingwith Mills to develop and improve yarn dyed methods and develop fabric design in line with their speciality and yarn cards.
2. To manage the design and development critical path.
3. To prepare range presentations on CAD – working closely with design to present the best possible patterned options for each style and story, across all ranges.
4. To prepareaccurate, detailed packs that help the suppliers produce high quality strike-offs & hand looms.
5. Managing the team fortimelyapprovals.
6. To ensure patternedphoto sampleslook the best they can.
7. To go onsourcing and developmenttrips, where necessary.
8. Carry out regular competitor research.
9. Support the fabric development of our amazing product working closely with internal teams and suppliers.
10. Work closely withDesignandBuying teamto ensure all fabric information is correctin PLM .
11. Ensure Boden does not infringe copyright or ownership on any vintage samples,swatchesor ideas.
12. Keep PLMand the Matrixup to date andaccurateat all times.
13. Build andmaintainstrong relationships with all cross functional teams/ Suppliers and Mills.
14. Work at pace and ensure deadlines are metwhilst working on Multiple seasons and divisions at one time.
15. Manage your own workload and priorities, raise in advance if deadlines cannot be met.
16. Ensure decisions are made quickly and speak up if something goes wrong.
What We Are Looking For
17. Demonstrabletrack recordwith a brand similar in inspiration.
18. Ideally a BA Hons, Textile Designin Weave.
19. Excellent computer skills (WeaveSoftware,Adobe, Illustrator, Photoshop).
20. Passionateand Technical experience in WovenFabricdesign.
21. Be creative and have a keen eye for detail.
22. Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
23. Experience of being part of a team, whilst able to work independently.
24. Be organised, adaptable and enjoys a challenge.
25. Clear communication and problem-solving skills.
