Flower Pots Day Nursery is currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join the kitchen team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our central kitchen which supplies meals for 8 nurseries. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for various tasks related to food preparation, cleaning, washing up and maintaining cleanliness in compliance with hygiene standards. The successful candidate will join a small existing team of three staff on site.
The working hours are: 15 hours on site, with option for more hours in future. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 7am-12pm.
Key responsibilities
* Washing pots, pans, dishes, and kitchen equipment
* Keeping the kitchen standards to a high level; clean, tidy, and hygienic
* Supporting the chef/kitchen team with basic tasks as needed
* Following food hygiene, health & safety, and cleaning procedures
* Ensuring cleaning schedules are completed daily
* Optional occasional support as a driver/food delivery if required
* Basic food preparation
Requirements:
* Previous experience working in a catering environment.
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, including proper handling, storage, stock rotation and preparation of food.
* Understanding of dietary requirements.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work well as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues.
* Must be 30+ due to insurance purposes and driving lisence is essential.
