My client is recruiting for a Sub Agent to join our UK Civils Division in the South, working on concrete road frameworks. The role reports to the Agent/Project Manager and involves supporting the management of design and construction, including quality procedures and health, safety, and environmental management, all to meet programme, specification, and budget targets.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver health, safety, and environmental presentations such as project inductions, toolbox talks, and team briefings. Contribute to presentation content.
* Manage, supervise, and mentor graduate, site, and section engineers to ensure high engineering standards and proper project documentation.
* Conduct health and safety inspections.
* Maintain a daily diary of activities.
* Implement quality control processes, including preparing and reviewing Inspection & Test Plans, with strong knowledge of concrete, drainage, steelwork, and brickwork.
* Understand project specifications, especially tolerances for structural elements.
* Issue permits to break ground.
* Prepare and review method statements and risk assessments.
* Identify missing information and understand the RFI process.
* Understand temporary works and act as Temporary Works Co-ordinator.
* Understand lifting operations and serve as Project Lifting Operations Appointed Person.
* Prepare and monitor 4-week construction programmes or assist project planners.
Experience & Skills
* Experience at section engineer level.
* Understanding of risk controls for underground services.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Experience in design management.
* Experience managing temporary works and lifting operations.
* Knowledge of quality management procedures.
* Familiarity with CAD.
* Previous team management experience.
* Proven record of initiating positive changes on projects.
Qualifications & Training
* SMSTS Training.
* First Aid Certification.
* Temporary Works Co-ordinator training.
* CPCS Lifting Operations Appointed Persons course.
* Working towards professional status (e.g., ICE, CIOB).
