Senior Occupational Therapist – Rosewood Mother and Baby Unit (MBU), Dartford
We are delighted to offer a part‑time Occupational Therapist role in our dedicated team at the Rosewood Mother and Baby Unit (MBU). The MBU is an eight‑bed inpatient unit that provides specialist care and treatment to women with acute perinatal mental health issues.
Responsibilities
* Provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention for patients on the Rosewood MBU.
* Support the development and delivery of a meaningful group programme on the ward.
* Provide support and supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants on the ward.
* Participate in multidisciplinary decision‑making regarding patient care.
* Lead clinical leadership of the MBU, ensuring evidence‑based practice and service‑user centric outcomes.
* Identify, develop and provide Occupational Therapy contribution within the multidisciplinary service according to user needs.
* Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate therapeutic interventions for identified service users.
* Manage a defined caseload of service users with occupational needs using evidence‑based, service‑user centric, hope and recovery, health promotion and relapse prevention principles.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* A recognised Occupational Therapist professional qualification
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Registered member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) or relevant professional body (desirable)
Experience
* Substantial experience of working in mental health occupational therapy
* Experience of delivering clinical supervision
* Experience of developing learners and staff in the workplace
* Clinical experience of working in perinatal mental health (desirable)
* Experience of being involved in service developments or audits (desirable)
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of relevant OT theoretical models and approaches relevant to service‑user groups
* Ability to make decisions and work cooperatively as part of an inter‑professional team
* Knowledge of and ability to apply national policies and procedures, including confidentiality, consent, risk management and service‑user involvement
* Strong communication skills – verbal and written; computer literate, using e‑mail, Word, Excel and internet resources
* Understanding of the broad aims of national and local healthcare policy and appreciation of its implications on clinical practice (desirable)
* Knowledge of perinatal mental illness (desirable)
Salary: £40,617 to £48,778 per year pro‑rate inclusive of high‑cost area supplement
