We’re looking for a confident, caring, and collaborative individual to join us as a Graduate Highways and Drainage Officer. You’ll be part of the Highways and Drainage Services team within the Environment and Regeneration Directorate — a dynamic department working on essential infrastructure projects that directly impact the safety and sustainability of our communities.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Graduate Officer, you’ll gain hands-on experience while supporting the delivery of key services and projects. You’ll:
1. Assist in developing drainage and flood risk strategies and policies
2. Support the preparation and management of contracts and funding bids
3. Contribute to the design and review of infrastructure projects
4. Help manage service performance and respond to public enquiries
5. Undertake site visits and surveys across the County Borough
6. Prepare reports and assist with service reviews and presentations
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:
7. Educated to degree level in Civil Engineering or a related field
8. Technically curious, especially about GIS and geospatial data
9. A strong communicator and team player
10. Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
11. In possession of a full UK driving licence
About you:
Some of the essential skills and experience required for the Graduate Highways and Drainage Officer role are:
12. A degree (minimum 2:2) in Civil Engineering or a relevant subject
13. Technical understanding of GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
14. Demonstrable interest in geography and/or geospatial data
15. Strong written and verbal communication skills
16. Proficient in computer use and digital tools
17. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
18. Full UK driving licence
19. Satisfactory medical clearance
