Harris Academy Riverside is a very popular non-selective and highly oversubscribed academy which opened as part of the Harris Federation and the regeneration of the Purfleet on Thames area in 2017. We serve our local community of Purfleet on Thames and West Thurrock and have 900 on roll in the secondary academy and around 200 students in the 6th form.

Are you looking for your next step in teaching? We seek a qualified, experienced teacher to join Harris Academy Riverside as 2iC of English.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Your role will include:
* Deputising for the Subject Coordinator and assisting in establishing outstanding provision, systems, and structures aligned with our values and vision.
* Accountability for student progress across KS3, KS4, and post-16, including achievement targets.
* Ensuring high standards of teaching and learning through continuous development.
* Providing a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum.
* Implementing school policies consistently within the subject area.
* Ensuring effective tutor programmes and staff deployment.
* Leading literacy development to raise standards across the academy.
Main responsibilities also include:
* Operational and strategic planning, curriculum development, staff management, student outcome monitoring, pastoral duties, and teaching excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will:
* Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
* Have at least one year's teaching experience.
Additional desirable qualities include success in raising achievement, ICT skills, curriculum innovation, understanding of literacy and numeracy strategies, experience with Assessment for Learning, and a willingness to use coaching for professional development.
