Vacancy: Senior Science Technician

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and skilled Senior Science Technician to join a thriving secondary school science department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the sciences, working alongside a team of 13 teachers and other support staff.
We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, a proactive attitude, and a good sense of humour to lead the technical support function. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day tasks of the science technicians and ensuring the safe and efficient preparation of materials and equipment for practical lessons.
This is an ideal position for someone with experience in a similar role or background in science education, laboratory work, or technical support.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, distribute, and clear away equipment and materials for science lessons
* Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is clean, functional, and safe
* Manage stock levels and place orders as needed
* Support teachers during practical lessons when required
* Oversee the work and schedules of other science technicians
* Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures in all lab activities
* Contribute to the efficient running of the department
