As Assistant HR Business Partner, you'll work closely with senior stakeholders, supporting managers to deliver people initiatives aligned to wider organisational strategy. With strong exposure to change, employee relations, people data and project delivery, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, stakeholder engagement and making a measurable impact.
Job Description
The OpportunityWorking as part of a progressive People & OD function, you will:
3. Act as a trusted people partner to managers, supporting them to manage and lead their teams effectively
4. Coach and challenge leaders on people decisions, capability, wellbeing and risk
5. Support and deliver people‑focused projects and change initiatives, from planning through to implementation
6. Analyse people data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, translating insight into action
7. Partner with specialist HR teams (Employee Relations, Reward, EDI, L&D) to deliver joined‑up solutions
8. Step up to cover HR Business Partner responsibilities when required, supported by a Senior HRBP
This role offers real development into business partnering, not just the title.
The Successful Applicant
Who This Role Is Perfect ForYou might currently be:
9. An HR Advisor with strong exposure to project work, change or complex case management
10. A Junior HR Business Partner looking to deepen your partnering experience
11. First or sideways move into Assistant HR Business Partner role
12. Someone keen to move from advisory work into more strategic, consultative HR
You'll bring:
13. Solid experience advising managers within a complex or unionised environment
14. Strong project or programme experience (e.g. restructuring, change, policy implementation, cultural initiatives)
15. Confidence using people data and insights to inform decisions
16. An understanding of employment law and HR best practice
17. The credibility and communication skills to influence and build trust with stakeholders
18. CIPD qualification (or working towards) and a commitment to professional development
Higher education and training experience isn't essential - transferable experience from other large, regulated or matrix organisations is very welcome.
