Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Aberdeen
Contract Type: Permanent
Job Purpose:
To ensure products and services meet quality standards before reaching customers. The Quality Engineer identifies and resolves quality issues, improves processes, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Maintain, develop, and control all quality-related procedures, work instructions, and processes within the management system to ensure relevance to company policy and objectives, compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, API Q1, and adherence by staff at all facilities.
2. Raise and investigate non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive measures, and monitor their effectiveness.
3. Liaise with department heads regarding quality control throughout production.
4. Contribute to overall quality improvements within the company.
5. Maintain and update the Company’s Technical library and relevant procedures.
6. Coordinate calibration equipment across sites to ensure effective management.
7. Work with Supply Chain to manage calibration services with suppliers.
8. Monitor quality performance and compile monthly reports.
9. Assess supplier QHSE performance and prepare reports for management meetings.
10. Conduct internal and external audits, provide improvement recommendations, and manage audit findings in Progress Plus.
11. Participate in third-party audits of the Integrated Management System.
12. Produce analytical reports for quality meetings, toolbox talks, and management reviews.
13. Manage and maintain Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) documentation according to standards.
14. Maintain LOLER register and organize thorough examinations.
15. Conduct periodic checks on facility ladders.
16. Assist and undertake tasks for the HSEQ Manager.
17. Deputize for the HSEQ Coordinator as needed, supporting or leading activities including risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
Skills and Abilities:
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong time management.
* Ability to interpret specifications and standards.
* Self-starter with initiative, able to work independently and in teams.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and professional representation.
* Proficient in root cause analysis tools (Fishbone/Ishikawa, 5 Whys, 8D).
* Knowledge of inspection/testing methods, including NDT and dimensional inspection.
* Qualified Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor (preferred).
Knowledge & Experience:
* Proven experience in Quality Engineering or QC role, with degree or equivalent experience.
* Experience in UK Renewables or Oil & Gas industries.
* Knowledge of NDT documentation requirements (preferred).
* Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, API Q1, 7-1, and 7-2 standards (preferred).
