Overview
Technical Officer (Housing Adaptations) – St Helens Council. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed professional to design and enable the delivery of housing adaptations for disabled householders within the Borough. You will ideally have previous building trade experience together with the knowledge and skills required to support and monitor works to meet the needs of disabled people utilising the Disabled Facilities Grant process. You will be part of a customer-focused team providing advice and assistance to vulnerable householders across all tenures in relation to suitable and cost-effective housing adaptations.
Responsibilities
* Design and enable the delivery of housing adaptations for disabled householders within the Borough.
* Support and monitor works to meet the needs of disabled people using the Disabled Facilities Grant process.
* Provide advice and assistance to vulnerable householders across all tenures on suitable and cost-effective housing adaptations.
* Work as part of a team in a customer-focused environment; carry out site visits and inspections across the borough.
* Hybrid working: mix of remote work with access to an agile work hub, plus site visits as required.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Previous building trade experience (ideal).
* Knowledge and skills required to support and monitor works under the Disabled Facilities Grant process.
* Ability to work in a team and provide advice and assistance to vulnerable households.

Location and other details
Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire. Hybrid working is available with a combination of home working and access to an agile work hub, plus site visits and inspections across the borough.
