About the role
Ansvar, part of Benefact Group, is looking for an Underwriter to join the Brighton office. As an Underwriter, you will develop, negotiate and profitably underwrite business within your authority and in line with Ansvar’s strategy.
You’ll work closely with brokers to build strong relationships, balancing new customer acquisition with retention through competitive insurance solutions. Your portfolio will include charities, property owners, businesses, faith groups and other not‑for‑profit organisations.
What you'll be doing
* Develop, negotiate and profitably underwrite business within own authority and in line with Ansvar strategy
* Plan, prioritise and manage individual work to deliver agreed objectives and meet SLAs for exceptional customer service
* Communicate effectively (telephone, face‑to‑face) to support Ansvar’s right‑first‑time approach
* Act on audit results and action plans within agreed deadlines to improve performance (including training, CII, CPD)
* Understand and operate within the regulatory framework and identify and escalated risks to the business
* Analyse statistical information using specialist programmes
* Support broker visits to enforce policies
* Keep detailed and accurate records of policies underwritten and decisions made
What you'll need to have
* Qualified Cert CII or commitment to achieve within an agreed timescale
* Market, industry and company knowledge
* Proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service
* Strong verbal communication skills
* Commercial insurance experience (essential)
