Junior National Account Manager, FMCG - Yorkshire HQ – Hybrid
Parker Young is delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded, purpose-led FMCG manufacturer to appoint a Junior National Account Manager — a role designed for someone early in their commercial career who wants to learn properly, grow quickly, and build long-term account management capability.
This is not a back-office sales role. It’s a hands-on, relationship-driven opportunity where you’ll be trusted with real responsibility, supported by an experienced Sales Controller, and given exposure to both major national retailers and smaller strategic accounts.
The opportunity
Reporting into the UK Sales Controller, you’ll play a key role in supporting the commercial strategy for larger national accounts, while owning and developing a portfolio of smaller national customers.
You’ll work cross-functionally with supply chain, customer service and internal teams to ensure excellent delivery, strong customer relationships and consistent commercial performance — all within a business that genuinely values collaboration, care and doing things the right way.
What you’ll be doing
* Managing a portfolio of smaller national retail accounts, with coaching and guidance from senior leadership
* Supporting the UK Sales team on larger, strategic customer relationships
* Building strong, trusted relationships with customers through clear communication and reliable delivery
* Tracking sales performance, forecasts and account data, producing regular reports and insights
* Supporting the creation of sales presentations, proposals and account plans
* Responding to customer queries and resolving issues in a timely, professional manner
* Developing a strong understanding of market trends, products and customer needs
* Working in line with quality, safety and environmental standards, and contributing to a values-led culture
What we’re looking for
This role would suit someone early in their commercial or sales career who is keen to build a long-term future in FMCG account management.
You’ll bring:
* Basic Excel and numerical skills
* Strong commercial curiosity and awareness
* A proactive, driven mindset with a desire to learn and progress
* Confidence building relationships and communicating with customers
* High levels of organisation and attention to detail
Ideally, you’ll also have:
* 1+ year experience in a commercial or sales-related role
* Exposure to managing accounts, projects or P&L responsibility
