Risk & Compliance Officer | London (EC2N) | up to £45k with hybrid working
A leading international, sector-focused law firm is seeking a Risk & Compliance Officer to join its London-based Risk & Compliance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional with law firm experience to join a highly regarded global practice, supporting offices across EMEA and working closely with senior stakeholders. The Risk & Compliance Officer will report to the Compliance Manager (EMEA) and play a key role in protecting the firm’s regulatory and reputational standing.
As Risk & Compliance Officer, you will support lawyers and business services teams on a broad range of regulatory, AML and conflicts matters. Key responsibilities include:
* Assisting with matter inception and ensuring all onboarding steps meet regulatory and internal policy standards
* Conducting AML due diligence, reviewing KYC documentation and performing sanctions searches, escalating issues where necessary
* Reviewing and recording terms of engagement, including client-imposed terms
* Supporting ongoing client and matter risk assessments and maintaining accurate matter data
* Assisting with compliance reporting, weekly/monthly monitoring and audit preparation
* Setting up and maintaining information barriers and insider lists
* Delivering training to embed compliance best practice
* Supporting cross-team initiatives and ad hoc regulatory projects
The successful Risk & Compliance Officer will demonstrate:
* Minimum two years’ experience within a compliance function in a law firm
* A law degree or GDL, with prior legal work experience
* Strong AML and regulatory compliance knowledge
* The ability to identify conflicts and risk within a professional services environment
* Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills
* High attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information discreetly
* Advanced proficiency in MS Outlook, Word and Excel
