Our client, a key player in the defence and security sector, is seeking a Network Engineer with SC clearance to support their technical teams in Corsham. This role involves designing, developing, and testing core networking components within a secure environment. You will work on a mix of remote and on-site days, providing crucial expertise to underpin vital infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and validate networking components for the NSoIT(D) Platform, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
Produce and review detailed network design artefacts across various stages of the project lifecycle.
Support system testing activities, troubleshooting, and resolving network issues promptly.
Collaborate with system and service management teams to maintain system integrity and security.
Ensure configurations align with security standards, with experience in routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
Implement hierarchical IP subnetting and manage network infrastructure including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Configure and manage VXLAN overlays, dual cloud solutions, and advanced network architectures like Leaf & Spine.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of three years' experience in network engineering, with a focus on Cisco hardware and network design.
Proficient in routing protocols, network security, and core virtualisation technologies.
Strong understanding of IPv4/IPv6 subnetting, routing, and network troubleshooting.
Experience in secure network architecture development within the defence or security sectors.
Hold a valid Security Clearance (SC) and experience working in defence or government environments.
Insight into managing large virtualised infrastructure environments, using tools like JIRA and Confluence.
Solid science or engineering background - ideally with a relevant degree or certification like CCNP.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Experience within the defence or security industry, especially with Defence Digital projects.
Knowledge of battlefield or secure military networks, gateways, and protocols.
Experience designing and delivering secure architecture in multi-tenanted environments.
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent certifications.
Experience in virtualisation (VMware VCP-NV) and scalable infrastructure environments.
