Relationship Support Officer – Islamic Banking
Reporting to: Relationship & Branch Manager
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Relationship Support Officer to join a growing banking team with a focus on Islamic finance. This role supports the management of a portfolio of Commercial and SME clients, with exposure to Shariah-compliant banking products and structured lending solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior banking professional looking to develop their career within a credit-focused, client-facing environment, supporting Relationship Managers across a portfolio of lending clients.
The Role
You will support Relationship Managers in the day-to-day management of Commercial / SME client relationships, ensuring high-quality service and efficient handling of lending processes.
A key aspect of the role is supporting the preparation of lending cases, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring all activities are aligned with internal policies and Shariah-compliant principles.
Key Responsibilities
* Support Relationship Managers in managing a portfolio of Commercial / SME clients
* Assist with client onboarding and ongoing relationship management
* Maintain strong communication with clients and internal stakeholders
* Ensure accurate and up-to-date client records
Lending & Credit Support
* Assist in the preparation and review of lending applications
* Support the collection and verification of financial information and documentation
* Review client data and assist with affordability and risk considerations
* Monitor existing facilities and support ongoing portfolio reviews
Operations & Control
* Coordinate documentation and ensure completeness in line with internal processes
* Support KYC, AML, and Enhanced Due Diligence requirements
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policy standards
* Liaise with internal teams to support deal progression
Branch Support
* Support Relationship Managers with administrative and operational tasks
* Assist with reporting, pipeline tracking, and general branch activity
* Contribute to a collaborative and performance-driven team environment
Requirements
* 1–3 years’ experience within banking or financial services
* Exposure to lending, credit processes, or financial analysis
* Understanding of SME / Commercial banking environments
* Interest in Islamic finance (experience beneficial, not essential)
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Confident communicator with the ability to work across teams
* Strong analytical and numerical ability
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Good understanding of banking products and processes
* Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
