Post No. POSN003107 - Business Support Officer We are looking to recruit an experienced and highly organised Business Support Officer to support the delivery of the Communities for Work Plus programme within Newport City Council. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, outcomes-focused team working to support individuals into sustainable employment. The successful post holder will provide high-quality administrative and business support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the programme, working closely with delivery staff, partners and participants. With strong IT skills, a sound understanding of office procedures, and experience of working in a fast-paced administrative environment, you will play a key role in supporting service delivery and maintaining accurate information systems. You will be expected to work independently, use your initiative, and demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, along with a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities: - Act as a first point of contact for enquiries from participants, colleagues and partners, providing timely and professional responses. - Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Communities for Work Plus team, ensuring effective day-to-day operations. - Maintain, manage and analyse data and performance information systems to support reporting and programme monitoring. - Support financial processes including processing payments, procurement activity and maintaining financial records in line with council procedures. - Arrange meetings and events, prepare documentation, and produce accurate minutes and action logs. - Support participant engagement activities, ensuring records are accurately maintained and updated - Liaise with internal teams, external partners and stakeholders to support programme delivery. - Assist with project work and continuous improvement initiatives across the service. - Ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality and corporate policies at all times. - Undertake other administrative duties as required to meet the needs of the programme.
