Location: Loudwater, Greenford OR Weymouth (1 day per week onsite)
Role details:
We are seeking an experienced Configuration Management (CM) Lead to deliver a modern, scalable, and automated CM system within a maritime-focused engineering environment.
This role will ensure integrity, transparency, and consistency across development and services by implementing best-in-class CM processes. The successful candidate will drive collaboration, risk reduction, and continuous improvement, supporting delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions aligned with both project and organisational objectives.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
1. Collaborate with management to build and sustain a high-performing CM team that embraces a pragmatic, collaborative approach.
2. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team and broader organisation.
CM Processes & Execution:
Change Control & Version Management:
3. Oversee robust change control procedures to ensure transparency, traceability, and visibility throughout the CI lifecycle.
4. Manage version control systems for real-time tracking and reporting of CIs across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
5. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among engineering, programme management, quality assurance, and operations to ensure seamless CM processes.
6. Provide stakeholders with transparent, real-time configuration data to support faster, data-driven decisions and risk mitigation.
7. Communicate CM processes and progress clearly to build trust and alignment organisation-wide.
Tools & Automation:
8. Champion the adoption and effective use of CM tools and automation platforms to enhance CM delivery and reporting.
Compliance, Governance & Reporting:
9. Ensure CM processes comply with organisational policies, industry standards, and project-specific requirements.
10. Track and report on CM performance, identifying areas for process improvement and alignment with business goals.
11. Monitor lifecycle integrity of CIs to provide visibility and mitigate risks across all projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
12. Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline; certifications such as CMII or CM2-P preferred.
13. Extensive experience in configuration management with expertise in lifecycle management, automation, and collaborative approaches.
14. Familiarity with standards such as Def Stan 05-57, ISO 10007, or EN 9100 highly desirable.
15. Proficient in change management, version control, and automated CM tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Jira, or equivalents).
16. Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to align CM strategy with business objectives.
17. Proven track record of fostering cross-functional collaboration and driving innovation within CM frameworks.
18. Strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to implementing scalable and resilient processes.
19. MUST hold or be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance
