About the Global Field Engineering Team
The Global Field Engineering (GFE) team is a dynamic group of broadcast engineers dedicated to managing and deploying technical equipment for live Sports and News broadcasts across the globe. From TNT Sports to Eurosport and CNN, our team ensures seamless operations in fast-paced environments.
This year alone, our London-based team has delivered major events like the European Premier League, the French Open, and NHL broadcasts. We’re gearing up for even more exciting challenges, including the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics and various high-profile news events.
Your New Role
As the Director of Global Field Engineering, you will report to the VP of Global Field Engineering and lead the International Field Engineering Team. Your mission? To ensure efficient deployment of resources across TNT Sports, Eurosport, and CNN while delivering exceptional service to our stakeholders.
This role will involve working from our Old Street and Chiswick offices, along with frequent travel to sports events to evaluate live productions and consult with onsite customers.
Your Role Accountabilities
Team Management
* Lead, hire, and train a talented team of ~12 members across EMEA.
* Provide 24/7 broadcast and IT services to support live sports and news broadcasts.
* Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Collaboration and Process Improvement
* Engage with Eurosport leaders and TNT Sport technical teams to plan event requirements.
* Assist the VP in setting department goals that align with stakeholder priorities.
* Manage budget and staffing requirements effectively.
* Explore and implement new field technology to optimize remote executions.
Remote Execution and Event Coordination
* Travel frequently to sports events to evaluate live productions and identify efficiencies.
* Ensure timely delivery of field production technology for live broadcasts.
* Oversee high-visibility event productions in cooperation with programming teams.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in senior management roles within a News and Sports media organization.
* Extensive background in live and sport field technology deployments.
* Strong leadership skills with a knack for motivating and inspiring teams.
* Excellent communication skills and experience in budget management.
Working Conditions
