We are looking for an Urban Drainage Advisor with sewer hydraulic modelling experience. This is an exciting time for the wastewater sector, and you will join a national team dedicated to designing and implementing new regulatory approaches that enable strategic change in how we regulate and collaborate with sewerage companies.

Key Responsibilities
* Apply expertise in sewer hydraulic and modelling tools to inform guidance and ensure programme delivery.
* Lead the development of audit processes for water quality investigations under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework and Environment Act.
* Co‑develop training courses on Urban Pollution Management (UPM), respond to technical queries and coach staff on sewerage and water quality investigations.
* Work proactively with Environment Agency teams and external organisations across the country.
* Participate in incident responses; you may opt for an incident role with additional payment and full training.
Experience and Skills Required
* Relevant degree in civil engineering, geography, environmental science or equivalent, plus demonstrated continued professional experience.
* Experience of sewer modelling and/or river quality impact modelling for UPM studies, including model audits.
* Knowledge of environmental planning and regulation of Water and Sewerage Companies.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to coach others; experience embedding new approaches into business processes.
* Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with internal and external customers.
Competences
1 Numerical Modelling and Forecasting
Interpret data to forecast environmental conditions, including climate change, pollution, flooding and water availability. Describe your experience designing, auditing and maintaining sewer or river quality impact models, including challenges faced and solutions applied.
2 Strategic Environment Planning
Develop, deliver and implement strategic plans for sustainable use and protection of the environment. Provide examples of how you applied technical and professional skills to significantly improve water quality in the wastewater sector.
3 Coaching Others
Use instruction, coaching and feedback to enhance capabilities of others. Provide an example of successfully developing a team or external organisation, describing your approach and how success was measured.
4 Shapes Organisational Approach & Delivery
Inform policy and design operational activities that deliver outcomes for people and the environment. Describe a process you developed and embedded at an organisational level.
Working Arrangement
Office base location is flexible; travel or overnight stays may be required for meetings.
