Advanced Pharmacist Education, Research and Development
Western General Hospital
Band 8a | 1 WTE | 37 Hours
This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist to lead our Foundation Training Year (FTY) and Post-registration Foundation Pharmacist (PRFP) Programmes, and to support the growth of research capacity and capability within the service.
Based within the Pharmacy Department (ERD Team) at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, you will work across NHS Lothian sites and Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs).
About the Role
This post contributes to national and local priorities in pharmacy education, through liaison with other education and training pharmacists in Scotland, with NHS Education Scotland (NES) and the Schools of Pharmacy. There will be opportunities to be trained in and to facilitate Simulation Based Education and Physical Assessment Skills.
This post will have a key role in the ERD team's leadership in research governance, support for research and service development programs, professional development for staff in research, and facilitation of clinical academic career pathways. This post contributes to pharmacy practice research and supports staff and students to undertake projects and disseminate their findings.
Part-time/Job Share working will be considered.

About you
We seek enthusiastic, highly motivated leaders interested in developing a portfolio of education, research, and development. Experience in practice-based research, supervising research, audits, or quality improvement projects is desirable. Experience in developing training programs and delivering teaching would be advantageous.
Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and should have completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy, or demonstrate competence to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Core Advanced Curriculum level.
If you haven't completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc, you must demonstrate substantial progress across the four pillars of the RPS Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum through engagement with the curriculum, participation in communities of practice, submitting a portfolio screenshot, and completing the RPS learning needs analysis.
Candidates with a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc should complete the learning needs analysis using the RPS e-portfolio, identifying any gaps for PDP plans.
